Application Terms & Conditions

1. About These Terms

1.1 These terms and conditions (“Terms”) govern your application to the Interworking international placement programme (“Programme”) operated by Interworking Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales with company number 17172638 (“Interworking”, “we”, “us”).

1.2 By submitting an application form and paying the commitment fee described in Section 3, you (“Applicant”, “you”) agree to be bound by these Terms.

1.3 These Terms apply to the placement-matching process only. Separate terms will govern your confirmed placement and any associated programme of study, and will be provided to you prior to placement commencement.

2. The Placement Process

2.1 Following receipt of your completed application and commitment fee, Interworking will work to identify international placement opportunities that match your stated preferences, experience, and eligibility.

2.2 We will use reasonable endeavours to introduce you to host organisations whose opportunities align with the preferences you have indicated on your application form. We do not guarantee placement in a specific country, sector, or role type, nor do we guarantee placement within a specific timeframe.

2.3 We will keep you reasonably informed of progress and will notify you of any relevant opportunities as they arise.

3. Fees

Commitment and Administration Fee (£100)

3.1 To initiate the placement process, you are required to pay a commitment and administration fee of £100 (“Commitment Fee”). This fee reflects the administrative costs, platform access, and placement-search resources Interworking commits to your application from the point of acceptance.

3.2 The Commitment Fee is refundable in the following circumstances only:
(a) Interworking is unable to identify and introduce a placement opportunity that reasonably matches your stated preferences within three months of your application being accepted (see clause 3.4); or
(b) Interworking introduces you to one or more host organisations matching your stated preferences and you choose not to proceed with any of them, provided you notify us of that decision in writing.

3.3 In all other circumstances — including voluntary withdrawal, persistent non-engagement, failure to respond to communications, or withdrawing after accepting a placement — the Commitment Fee will not be refunded.

Refund of Commitment Fee

3.4 Your Commitment Fee will be refunded in full if Interworking is unable to identify and introduce a placement opportunity that reasonably matches your stated preferences within three months of your application being accepted. For the avoidance of doubt, “reasonably matches” means a placement in your preferred region(s), broadly within your preferred sector(s), and meeting the core eligibility criteria of the Programme.

3.5 If you receive one or more introductions to host organisations matching your stated preferences but choose not to proceed with any of them, you remain entitled to a refund of your Commitment Fee, provided you notify us of your decision not to proceed in writing.

3.6 In all other circumstances – including but not limited to voluntary withdrawal, non-engagement, failure to respond to communications, or accepting and then withdrawing from a placement – the Commitment Fee is non-refundable.

Programme Fee

3.7 The total Programme fee is £1,195, inclusive of the Commitment Fee. The balance of £1,095 (“Balance Payment”) is due upon confirmation of your placement by you and must be received within 30 days.

3.8 The Balance Payment becomes a binding contractual obligation upon confirmation of your placement. You are required to pay it in full by the due date specified on your invoice.

3.9 If the Balance Payment is not received by the due date, Interworking reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to take any or all of the following steps:
(a) Issue a formal written demand for payment, allowing a further period of no less than 7 days to remedy the default;
(b) Suspend or withdraw your confirmed placement and release it to another applicant, without any obligation to re-offer an equivalent placement;
(c) Charge interest on the outstanding amount at a rate of 8% per annum above the Bank of England base rate, accruing daily from the due date until the date of payment;
(d) Refer the outstanding debt to a third-party debt collection agency, the reasonable costs of which may be added to the amount owed;
(e) Commence legal proceedings to recover the outstanding amount, including through the County Court small claims process.

3.10 For the avoidance of doubt, withdrawal of your placement under clause 3.9(b) does not extinguish your obligation to pay the Balance Payment where Interworking has fulfilled its obligations under these Terms by confirming a suitable placement on your behalf.

4. Your Obligations

4.1 By accepting these Terms, you commit to engaging actively and in good faith throughout the placement process. This includes:
(a) Responsiveness. Responding to communications from Interworking within 3 working days. Persistent failure to respond may result in your application being placed on hold or withdrawn.
(b) Accuracy. Ensuring that all information submitted in your application – including your motivation statement, LinkedIn profile, and placement preferences – is accurate and up to date. You must notify us promptly of any material changes to your circumstances, availability, or preferences.
(c) Interview attendance. Attending any interviews or introductory calls arranged with host organisations, or providing at least 48 hours’ notice if you are unable to attend. Repeated non-attendance without notice may result in withdrawal of your application without refund.
(d) Professionalism. Engaging with host organisations in a professional manner consistent with the standards of the Programme.
(e) Direct contact. Not approaching host organisations introduced to you through Interworking independently or outside the placement process, unless expressly authorised by us to do so.
(f) Notification. Informing us promptly if you accept employment or a placement through any other route while your Interworking application is active.

5. Data Sharing

5.1 By submitting your application, you consent to Interworking sharing the information contained in your application form — including your name, contact details, motivation statement, LinkedIn profile, and placement preferences — with host organisations for the purpose of assessing your suitability for placement opportunities.

5.2 We will handle your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy [link], which complies with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

5.3 Host organisations to whom your data is shared are required to treat it as confidential and to use it solely for placement assessment purposes.

6. Withdrawal and Cancellation

6.1 You may withdraw from the placement process at any time by notifying us in writing.

6.2 If you withdraw, the Commitment Fee of £100 is non-refundable in all circumstances (subject to clause 3.5 above).

6.3 If you withdraw after a placement has been confirmed and the Balance Payment made, please refer to your placement-specific terms and conditions, which will set out the cancellation and refund provisions applicable at that stage.

7. Limitation of Liability

7.1 Interworking acts as an intermediary between applicants and host organisations. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of host organisations, including decisions not to proceed with an applicant.

7.2 Our total liability to you in connection with the placement process shall not exceed the total fees paid by you to Interworking at the time the liability arises.

7.3 Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. General

8.1 Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

8.2 Entire agreement. These Terms, together with your application form, constitute the entire agreement between you and Interworking in relation to the placement process.

8.3 Variation. We reserve the right to update these Terms. We will notify you of any material changes. Continued participation in the Programme following notification constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

8.4 Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.

By submitting your application form and paying the Commitment Fee, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
